Miranda Adams, violin

Miranda Adams is one of New Zealand's leading performers. She was born in Dunedin and studied violin with Pamela Bryce, Elsa Jensen, and Charmian Gadd. She is currently associate concert master with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra and has performed concertos with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and many Regional orchestras. She has vast chamber music experience within NZ, leading the Nelson String Quartet, Blue Quartet, Manifesto Trio, Tasman Trio, Bravura with Jonathan Besser, and the successful Vivo with Tatiana Lanchtchikova. Miranda has commissioned several NZ compositions including works by Eve de Castro, John Elmsly, Nigel Keay, and Jonathan Besser. She enjoys innovating with the violin, whether through improvising or premiering new music. Miranda also leads the Auckland Gamelan group in traditional Indonesian music. She is dedicated to the advancement of live performance in New Zealand.

William HanflingWilliam Hanfling, violin

William Hanfling is acting Sub-Principal of the 2nd Violins for the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and has been a permanent member since 2002. He received his B Mus (hons) and M Mus with Mary O'Brien at The University of Auckland. He also received post graduate diplomas from The Royal Northern College of Music in the United Kingdom, studying under Dr Christopher Rowland. William has worked with a number of orchestras including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, London Soloists, New London Sinfonia and Chameleon Arts Orchestra.

Robert Ashworth, viola

Robert AshworthRobert Ashworth is currently Principal viola for the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. He has been principal viola for the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, as well as assistant-principal for the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. He is currently violist with the Jade String Quartet in Auckland, and can be heard performing as soloist and chamber musician throughout the country. Robert is a twice recipient of the Canada Council for the Arts Award for Emerging Artists and has performed with various groups at international chamber music festivals in Europe, North America, and Japan. He has had the honour to study with violists Thomas Riebl and Veronika Hagen at the Universitaet Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria and with Gerald Stanick at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

Claudia Price, cello

Claudia PriceClaudia Price was born in Germany into a musical family and at the age of 13 moved to England where she completed schooling at the "Purcell School" (specialist music school). Claudia continued her studies in cello performance at the prestigious. Royal Academy of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She completed her Postgraduate Studies at the Hochschule der Kunste, in Berlin Germany. During this period she was busy as a teacher and freelance member of various ensembles in Germany and England, performing baroque to contemporary repertoire. Since coming to New Zealand in 1992, she has been a member of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra as well as Blue String Quartet, Manifesto Trio, Vivo Baroque and Ensemble Philharmonia.
